About Us

Bullystoppers.com was created in 2001 and was a result of Tom Letson's professional successes in implementing and monitoring a multi-public school anonymous email reporting system for students to privately report incidents of bullying occurring at school and on school buses.

The primary objective of Bullystoppers.com is to encourage students and schools to implement a school-wide anonymous bully reporting system to reduce chronic bullying.  Click here for more information on anonymous reporting.  This site gives students the opportunity to become the eyes and ears of school staff and to report bullying at school without the fear of others finding out they told.

Tom is also an  advocate of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, which emphasizes a school-wide approach.  The reporting mechanism and individual skills training found on this site are tools to support the implementation of the Olweus Program.

Schools are encouraged to use free tools (start-up check list, student orientation slide show, introductory newsletter article, and reporting signs) to implement their school wide reporting program. Students are encouraged to review sections on learning how to appropriately respond to bullying/teasing both verbally and non-verbally.  Focus is given to practical daily strategies to avoid bullying situations at school when possible and to confront and/or report bullying when necessary.

Why Schools Need Anonymous Bully Reporting:

To help students who suffer from covert bullying and harassment.

To decrease behaviors that build up over time and lead to violent outbursts.

To create a deterrent effect against bullying in your school and on your buses.

To prevent embarrassing students who report problems.

To involve the school staff in the day to day monitoring of the school climate.

Click here to read the US Secret Service Report on 41 School Shooting which recommends school have anonymous reporting mechanisms.
