I offer professional counseling services on Sweetman’s Lane in Perrineville (Millstone) New Jersey, to children, teens and adults.  Licensed as a NJ Professional Counselor  and Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor, I utilize a supportive motivational  approach which I have developed over my 20 years as a counselor and coach.   My office hours are weeknight evenings and weekend mornings.

I also provide assessment and counseling services to Monmouth County residents convicted of DUI and are in need of meeting IDRC requirements.  I do not accept insurance, however, an itemized receipt with all necessary codes is provided to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

For a free online screening test to help you decide if you may have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol visit this site:  www.drugscreening.org.  After you complete this screening, forward the results to me in email form and I give you feedback and suggestions at no charge.

For the latest research on how drugs and alcohol effect the brain and cause addiction visit the National Institute on Drug Abuse for this new free booklet: http://www.nida.nih.gov/scienceofaddiction/

I generally utilize a brief approach to counseling, building on past client successes and developing a short-term treatment plan with goals reasonable enough to begin realizing them prior to completion.

Anger Management

Anger evaluation and completion of anger management counseling for court stipulated clients.

Author of the book 4 Downs to Control. Control Anger and Strengthen Character with Football Concepts and Principles.   Finish Line Press, 1999, 144 pages, soft cover.

This book is based on solution focused therapy which in theory uses something a person is already familiar with to help learn and retain new information.  Tom felt strongly that men and teenage boys who could not relate to anger management self-help publications written with "psycho-babble" needed a new way to become aware of all the aspects of anger management training.

Tom's book has been purchased by NFL teams, Correctional Facilities, College Campuses and countless high school's to bring another tool to the table when helping others learn anger management.

Tom has also facilitated many anger management groups of men and adolescents.
